Unix-Based Systems
On this page, we will walk through how to set up an ODBC connection for your Unix-Based operating system so you can connect your data using Microsoft Excel.
Before You Begin
Before you can enable a connection to Microsoft Excel, you will need to obtain and download a Walmart-issued, secured key. If you have not yet obtained a secure key, please contact your Account Manager to request access.
Set Up the ODBC Connection
Watch the video or follow the steps below to set up the ODBC connection. Suggested installs needed are provided below.
- Download and install the MacOS SimbaODBC driver for BigQuery here.
- Download and install the ODBC Manager here.
- If you haven't already, save your Walmart-provided json key file (recommended path: /Library/ODBC).
- Configure the ODBC Manager:
- Navigate to the System DNS tab and click Add
- Choose your Simba ODBC Driver for Google BigQuery
- Complete all required fields, including:

| Encrypt Sensitive Data | For All Users |
| OAuthMechanism | Service Authentication |
| Enter the email associated with the connection | |
| KeyFilePath | Provide the path to your JSON file (such as /Library/ODBC/filename.json) |
| Catalog | wmt-dv-bi-link-prod |
| Dataset | Select the BI Link dataset |
Select OK.
Once you have set up the ODBC Connection, you can connect Microsoft Excel.
